President Bola Tinubu was on Monday warmly received with full military honors at the Planalto Palace in Brasília during his official visit to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
A vibrant guard of honor welcomed the Nigerian leader, setting the stage for a significant diplomatic engagement, according to reports.

President da Silva greeted Tinubu with a formal handshake, followed by a photo session and introductions of their respective delegations, which included key Nigerian cabinet ministers.

The leaders then held a private meeting, paving the way for bilateral discussions and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding to bolster cooperation.

Tinubu, who landed in Brasília earlier that day, emphasized Nigeria’s dedication to deepening ties with Brazil, a major South American economy.
In a post on his official X account, he stated, “This engagement is a pivotal moment for Nigeria-Brazil relations. I am eager to collaborate with President Lula to enhance partnerships in agriculture, energy, trade, and culture, fostering a shared vision for prosperity.”
The visit will also feature Tinubu’s participation in the Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum, a key event aimed at strengthening economic connections in the Brazilian capital.
