England and Ghana moved a step closer to the FIFA World Cup knockout stage after playing out a goalless draw in Foxborough on Tuesday.
The result leaves both teams on four points in Group L, with England sitting top of the table on goal difference.
After impressing in their 4-2 opening win over Croatia, England struggled to break down Ghana’s disciplined defence.
The Black Stars remained compact throughout the match and limited England to very few clear scoring opportunities.
Ghana nearly earned a penalty in the 79th minute when Prince Adu went down under a challenge from Ezri Konsa, but the referee waved play on.
England’s frustrating outing was summed up late in the game when captain Harry Kane fired over the bar from close range.
The draw keeps qualification firmly within reach for both sides ahead of their final group matches.
Meanwhile, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that US President Donald Trump will attend the World Cup final in New Jersey and help present the trophy to the winners.
