Veteran Nigerian musician Daddy Showkey has expressed disappointment over the prolonged rift between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square, describing their fallout as the collapse of one of the greatest music brands ever produced in Africa.
Speaking during an interview with Goldmyne TV on Saturday, the veteran entertainer lamented that the iconic music duo represented far more than the two brothers because of the massive following and influence they built across the continent over the years.
“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.
Daddy Showkey noted that entertainers owe their fame and success to the people who support their careers, stressing that fans should always be considered when major personal or professional decisions are made.
“As an entertainer I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage. I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey.”
He added, “If the people have made you, you are not considering them but considering how much you guys are making.”
The veteran singer appealed to the Okoye brothers to put aside their differences and reconcile, warning that allowing the dispute to linger could have lasting consequences for their families.
According to him, unresolved conflicts between close relatives can extend beyond the present generation if they are not addressed.
“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children,” he said.
“Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children,” he added.
