
Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has congratulated its Lead Drilling and Completion Engineer at the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Ugochi Akwiwu, on receiving the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Outstanding Leadership and Service Award.
Akwiwu was presented with the prestigious honour during the Society’s Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) 2026 Dinner and Awards Night held recently in Lagos.
According to NNPC, the award is reserved for former Chairpersons of the SPE Nigeria Council and the NAICE Conference and recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to the Council and successfully delivered its flagship annual conference and exhibition.
Akwiwu earned the recognition following her role as Conference Chair for SPE NAICE 2025, which attracted more than 3,000 delegates and over 60 exhibitors. The conference was held under the theme, “Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy.”
Celebrating the achievement, NNPC said the recognition reflects the company’s commitment to professionalism and excellence in Nigeria’s energy industry.
