
Nigerian Army troops
In a series of swift operations across Kebbi, Katsina, Edo, Niger, Plateau, and Abia States, Nigerian Army troops have disrupted terrorist activities, rescued kidnapped victims, and seized weapons within the past 24 hours.
A senior official at Army Headquarters disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
In Kebbi, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to a distress call in Dundaye village, Augie Local Government Area, at around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
“Upon arrival, we found that terrorists had killed two civilians and stolen cattle.
“Our forces pursued the assailants along their escape route and are now intensifying patrols to restrict their movements,” the source stated.
In Katsina’s Malumfashi Local Government Area, troops of the 17 Brigade reacted to gunfire reports in Layin Minista village at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Friday. “The terrorists fled upon sighting our troops, but not before abducting two women
” We are conducting aggressive patrols to secure their release and reassure the community,” the official said.
In Edo, a Search and Rescue mission by the 4 Brigade under Operation MESA in Ugboha community, Esan South-East, led to the rescue of a civilian kidnapped on August 27 while heading to his farm in Amedokhaian. “Efforts are underway to reunite the victim with his family,” the source confirmed.
Additionally, troops at Forward Operating Base Babanna in Niger State recovered an AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition abandoned by insurgents.
The official emphasized the military’s commitment, stating, “Our troops are steadfast in neutralizing threats, rescuing victims, and restoring peace, ensuring criminals have no room to operate.”
