Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai
Kaduna State Police Command has called on former Governor Nasir El-Rufai and prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to answer questions regarding allegations of criminal conspiracy, inciting public unrest, mischief, and causing grievous harm.
The summons, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zubairu Abdullahi, who oversees criminal investigations, also names key ADC figures, including North West Chairman Ja’afaru Sani.
According to the police invitation letter, dated September 8, 2025, the investigation centers on El-Rufai, Bashir Saidu, Ja’afaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (alias Mikiya 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini.
The letter stated, “You are requested to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to clarify allegations reported against you by complainants.”
ADC members, however, claim they learned of the summons through social media and have not received formal notification.
The allegations stem from an incident on Saturday, when suspected thugs armed with cutlasses, clubs, and stones disrupted the inauguration of a transition committee formed by a coalition of opposition parties under the ADC in Kaduna.
The coalition includes members from factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party (LP), and the ADC.
The attackers reportedly vandalized properties and assaulted participants, though the inauguration proceeded amid heightened tension.
The Kaduna Police Command spokesperson,DSP Mansir Hassan,0 attributed the incident to El-Rufai, stating, “The former governor failed to inform the police or other security agencies about the meeting, despite prior warnings.” The police continue their investigation as tensions rise among the opposition coalition.
