
Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has approved the promotion of 35 academic staff members to the prestigious rank of professors.
This announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday in Sokoto by the university’s Director of Information, Mr. Sama’ila Yauri.
According to Yauri, the promotions were finalized during the 173rd Governing Council meeting, chaired by Prof. Attahiru Jega, following a thorough review of the promotion exercise results.
“The approval reflects the university’s commitment to recognizing academic excellence,” Yauri noted.
In addition to the new professors, 21 staff members were elevated to the rank of Readers, and four were promoted to Senior Lecturers. Prof. Jega, expressing his approval of the process, encouraged the promoted staff to “consistently uphold the highest standards of academic and professional integrity.”
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba, also extended his congratulations, urging the newly promoted staff to demonstrate greater dedication in their roles.
“This milestone is not just a reward but a call to further contribute to the university’s legacy,” Garba emphasized.
