Late former Presidents Muhammad Buhari, and Umaru Musa-Yar’adua
Two of Nigeria’s former presidents—late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Muhammadu Buhari—have been spotlighted in a newly launched biographical compendium celebrating over 100 distinguished figures from Katsina State who have played pivotal roles in shaping the nation.
The publication, titled: _“100+ Eminent Nigerians from Katsina State: Profiles in Nation Building and History (Volume One)”,_ was officially unveiled on Wednesday in Katsina.
The book honors notable individuals from the state who have contributed to Nigeria’s development across diverse sectors including politics, public service, education, and business.

At the unveiling ceremony, which was presided over by Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, attendees praised the book as a vital educational and cultural resource.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, emphasized that the book goes beyond celebration—it serves as a tool for learning and legacy.
“This is not just a compilation of names and achievements,” he said.
“It is a treasury of values, vision, and commitment. Our young people must engage with these stories to understand the caliber of leadership and service that has come out of Katsina.”
Radda added, “We must not allow the legacies of these great men and women to fade.
“Let this book serve as both a mirror of our past and a guide for our future.”
The state’s Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, echoed the governor’s sentiments, noting the importance of documenting homegrown excellence.
“This book is a source of inspiration. It is not just a record of the past, but a catalyst for ambition, patriotism, and service among Katsina’s youth.”
In his review of the book, academic and historian Dr. Aliyu Rabiu-Kurfi described the 600-page volume as more than a literary work. “It is a monument—a symbol of the enduring spirit of the Katsina people,” he said.
“As the state celebrates 38 years of existence, this compendium captures the essence of its contributions to Nigeria’s growth and unity.”
He further added, “This book is both mirror and map—it reflects the past and charts a course for the future. These are stories that must not be forgotten.”
The profiles featured in the book include military and civilian leaders, technocrats, academics, entrepreneurs, and traditional rulers—all of whom have helped shape not only the destiny of Katsina State but of the nation as a whole.
