
Yobe State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation following the discovery of a woman’s lifeless body near the perimeter fence of the Federal University, Gashua.
Police spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the development on Saturday during a press briefing in Damaturu.
The case was initially reported on Friday by one Yusuf Sarkin Baka, a resident of Sabon Daula Ward in Bade Local Government Area.

According to Abdulkarim, the deceased was later identified as Falmata Abubakar, 45, from Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward in Gashua.
> “She was found dressed in a black hijab, lying motionless by the university fence,” Abdulkarim said.
Responding to the report, officers from the Gashua Police Division immediately visited the scene and moved the body to the Specialist Hospital in Gashua, where a medical doctor confirmed her death.
Preliminary findings suggest that the victim may have been transported in a vehicle and dumped roughly two kilometers from her home.
> “The body was released to the family for burial after an autopsy, in accordance with Islamic rites,” Abdulkarim added.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, has assured the public that the case will be handled with professionalism and diligence, emphasizing the force’s commitment to getting to the root of the matter.
> “We are leaving no stone unturned to determine exactly what happened. We ask residents to remain calm and support the investigation with any useful information,” the Commissioner urged.
The police also reaffirmed their dedication to protecting lives and ensuring peace and security across the state.
