Former CDS Christopher Musa
Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has paid glowing tribute to General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), who officially bowed out as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on Saturday, marking the end of what the Forum described as an “illustrious and exceptional military career.”
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Luka Binniyat, the MBF lauded General Musa—an indigene of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in Southern Kaduna State—for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and steadfast loyalty throughout his years of service to Nigeria.
According to the Forum, General Musa’s tenure as CDS stood out for his “courage, humility, and strategic leadership” in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and fostering unity among the nation’s armed forces.
“His efforts to boost troop morale and strengthen inter-service cooperation, it noted, earned him widespread admiration across the country.
> “The MBF is proud of his achievements and the inspiration he represents to the youth of the Middle Belt and beyond,” the statement read.
The Forum also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting General Musa the opportunity to serve in such a high national capacity, adding that his wealth of experience would remain valuable to the country’s defence and security architecture.

In the same statement, the MBF congratulated Major General Waidi Shaibu on his appointment as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS). General Shaibu hails from Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State and is widely respected for his operational brilliance and command experience.
The Forum highlighted his outstanding record as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East, where he played a key role in degrading Boko Haram’s capabilities, as well as his leadership in anti-banditry operations across the North-West.
> “His emphasis on intelligence-led warfare, troop welfare, and civil-military cooperation has significantly strengthened Nigeria’s counterterrorism framework,” the MBF noted, urging him to discharge his duties with fairness, dedication, and patriotism.
The Forum further congratulated all newly appointed Service Chiefs, praying for divine guidance and unity as they take on the critical task of securing the nation.
