Motorists stranded along Lokoja–Abuja Road
Motorists heading along the Lokoja–Abuja highway were left frustrated over the weekend as severe gridlock brought traffic to a near standstill, leaving hundreds stranded for hours just days before Christmas.
Travelers reported being trapped in traffic from early Saturday morning through Sunday, with little to no movement along the busy route.
“It is now 8 p.m., and I have been here since 7 a.m. with my family, heading to Enugu,” one driver told newsmen, highlighting the growing frustration of holiday travelers.

Security personnel, including officers from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were deployed to manage the situation, working tirelessly to ease congestion and restore traffic flow.
The jam has raised concerns about road safety and timely travel during the festive season, as motorists urged authorities to enhance traffic management on critical highways during peak periods.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, exercise patience, and follow instructions from traffic authorities to navigate the busy holiday travel period safely.
