United States (US) President, Donald Trump on Friday voiced displeasure with a fresh proposal from Iran, saying “At this moment I’m not satisfied with what they’re offering,” as negotiations remain stalled despite a weeks-long ceasefire.
The Iranian offer was reportedly delivered through Pakistan, though details of its contents were not disclosed.
Blaming internal divisions in Tehran for the deadlock, Trump said the US faces a stark choice: “Do we want to go and just blast the hell out of them and finish them forever — or do we want to try and make a deal?”
He added he would “prefer not” to pursue military escalation “on a human basis,” even as tensions persist.
The conflict, initiated by joint US and Israeli strikes on February 28, has been paused since April 8, but only one unsuccessful round of direct talks has taken place.
Meanwhile, Iran continues to control the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global energy supplies, while Washington maintains a counter-blockade on Iranian ports.
Although Iran insists it “has never shied away from negotiations” and rejects “imposition,” uncertainty lingers, with some observers warning the diplomatic impasse could still collapse into renewed conflict.
