A couple has been arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over allegations that they threatened to kill pastors and members of a church.
The defendants, Olamide Abraham, 45, and his wife, Abidemi Abraham, 32, were brought before the court by the police on Wednesday. Their residential addresses were not disclosed.
They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and threat to life. Both defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
Presenting the case, the prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, told the court that the alleged offences were committed between 2022 and December 29, 2025, at a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) located along Sango Polytechnic Road, Ibadan.
He alleged that the couple, who were formerly members of the church, issued threats to kill some of the church’s pastors — Michael Ajayi, Daramola and Emem Inyang — as well as other members of the congregation.
According to the prosecutor, the threats were conveyed through voice notes and text messages sent to the complainants, in which the defendants allegedly vowed to kill them and unleash terror.
Olarotimi added that the couple were arrested after police investigations linked them to the alleged threats.
He said the offences contravened Sections 86 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs. Adebola Adeola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with one surety each in like sum. She ruled that the sureties must be blood relations of the defendants.
The case was adjourned until February 16 for hearing. (NAN)
