Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the state would strongly support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, citing what he described as unprecedented federal investments and dividends of democracy delivered to the state under the current administration.
The governor spoke on Sunday during a stakeholders’ engagement on the ongoing nationwide e-registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing party leaders from Zone 2, Sani said Kaduna is targeting 2.5 million registered APC members, noting that the party has become the dominant political force in the state.
According to him, the inclusive development approach of his administration combined with major federal projects attracted by President Tinubu has continued to weaken opposition parties, leading to mass defections into the APC.
Governor Sani disclosed that the Federal Government has committed N1 billion to support the Kaduna State Light Rail project, describing the intervention as historic and unmatched by any other northern state.
He said only Lagos State has enjoyed similar federal backing for a light rail project.
He further revealed that President Tinubu approved Kaduna as the pilot state for a large-scale poultry project following recent engagements in China.
The project, he said, has received federal approval of $200 million and is expected to generate at least 350,000 jobs, while supporting over 10,000 small and medium enterprises linked to poultry farming. Ground-breaking, he added, is expected within weeks.
The governor also listed other key federal interventions, including the approval of the Mando–Birnin Gwari road and the reconstruction of the Kwoi–Jema’a road, describing both as critical to economic growth and security in the state.
Sani noted that additional projects have been captured in the current federal budget through collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, particularly in Zone 1 of the state.
He said the northern senatorial district has benefited significantly, adding that the presence of the Speaker has been a major advantage.
He also commended the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, for facilitating major interventions under the ACRESAL programme to address erosion and climate-related challenges.
The governor disclosed that projects worth about N53 billion are set for ground-breaking in Zaria and Rigasa in the coming months.
“With the level of support Kaduna State has received from the Federal Government and the impact of our programmes across the state, we are confident that Kaduna will be among the leading states in the APC e-registration exercise,” Sani said.
The governor has, in recent days, held similar engagements with APC stakeholders across the three senatorial zones of the state, covering all local government areas, as part of efforts to strengthen party structures and mobilise grassroots support.
