Hon David Ombugadu
Baring last minute change, the Nasarawa State 2019 and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Hon David Ombugadu, is set to dump his party to the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).
A top member of PDP, who begged for anonymity, disclosed the development to our correspondent in Akwanga, on Sunday, saying the stage is set for such a move.
Recalled that Hon. Ombugadu, was first elected a member of the House of Representatives under Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), in 2011, then he went to APC after the merger and later decamped to PDP in 2015 and won his second term as a representative in the House of Representatives representing Akwang, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba, Federal Constituency.
Ombugadu, then contested for the governorship under PDP in 2019 and 2023, where he won the primaries but could not make it during the main elections.
With the vacuum seat created by the death of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, representing Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone, on 31st December, 2025, Ombugadu, is speculated to dump the PDP and contest for Senate under the APC.
All efforts to get Hon Ombugadu, to respond to the speculations making rounds proved abortive because he didn’t pick calls nor reply to an SMS sent to him. The SMS read thus: “Your Excellency, good afternoon. Is it true that you are planning to dump PDP to APC? I am Danjuma Joseph, of NATIONAL ACCORD Newspaper online”.
