Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has pledged to ensure a free, fair, and transparent governorship primary election, saying the process is crucial to securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The governor gave the assurance during critical APC stakeholders meeting in Government House Lafia, on Tuesday.
According to the governor, conducting free and fair primary election would make the most acceptable aspirant emerge winner during the general elections in 2027.
“I came in through free and fair primaries• Inshallah, I will conduct free and fair primaries. Stop rising your body temperature for nothing. The election will be free and fair primary election,” he said
According to him, I am only interested in the person that will work and surpass my achievements as power comes from God, so “I want to hand over to another APC Governor in 2027 in the state, this is my prayer” he added.
Governor Sule, called for the involvement of party leaders and all stakeholders of the party for hitch free and peaceful congresses.
He also appreciated the support of the party Executives and stakeholders during the e-registration and mega rally of the party in the state.
Also speaking, former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, congratulated Governor Sule and the party for calling for the stakeholders meeting for the progress of the party in the state.
Al-Makura called for unity, team work and total commitment among party stakeholders for the victory of the party in the state beyond 2027, as he also called on stakeholders to embrace the tenets of democracy for the progress of the party in the state.
On his part, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, appreciated Governor Sule for the good work he is doing in the state.
“Your Excellency, because of your good work and great achievements, we have gotten 7 Assembly Assembly members that have defected to APC. As it stands, APC has 2/3 Majority seats in the state Assembly,” he said
The APC National Deputy Secretary, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, called on aspirants and their supporters to play the game by its rules in the interest of peace and progress of the party in the state.
“My appeal is for patience, understanding and sacrifice and for our party to win elections beyond 2027,” he said
Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Iman Jibrin, commended Governor Sule for his inclusive leadership in the state.
“We saw a lot of people that decamped to APC in the State,” he said.
The minister assured Governor Sule of their loyalty and support, urged the stakeholders to remain peaceful and unite for the success of the party beyond 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the National Assembly members, a member representing Doma/ Keana/ Awe Federal constituency, Hon Abubakar Nalaraba, said “On behalf of the National Assembly members of the APC extraction, we want to assure of our loyalty and support to the party and Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
He urged APC stakeholders to be committed and give their total loyalty and support to Governor Sule’s administration, saying “God gives power and authority to whom ever he wishes”.
The ALGON Chairman, Hon Safiyanu Isah Andaha, who spoke on behalf of Chairmen of Local Government Areas appreciated Governor Sule for his developmental strides in the state.
“We are the local government, Want to appreciate His Excellency, Engr. A A Sule for what you have been doing for us. Every local government has experienced and still experiencing tremendous development. We will continue to be committed, loyal and support your administration to succeed,” he said.
Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, in his welcome address commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his good leadership of in the State.
He said that the stakeholders meeting was to discuss issues for the progress and development of the party in the state.
He also appreciated the support of Gov. Sule and other APC stakeholders to the success of the party in the state, in the area of e-party registration, the APC mega rally among other support.
“Your Excellency, your leadership style and achievements has also attracted some opposition lawmakers and stakeholders from their parties to the APC in the State.,” he said.
The APC Chairman reminded stakeholders that based on the party and stakeholders resolution, all officials of the party from the ward, Local Government and State would emerge through consensus for the unity, peace and stability of the party.
