
North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed relief materials to victims of recent multiples bomb blast in Maiduguri and Boko Haram terrorists attacks in Gwoza, Ngoshe, Monguno and Kukawa which claimed over 23 lives and injured over 108 injured.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Managing Director of NEDC , Alhaji Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Borno State Coordinator, NEDC State Office, Engr. Mohammed Umar, said the distribution was in fulfilment of the Vice President Kashim Shettima announcement during his sympathy visit to the victims at the UMTH where he said federal government would provide succour to the affected victims.
“The Commission aid to the affected persons was in line with the pronouncement made by Vice President Kashim Shettima and its mandate to support humanitarian response efforts,” Umar said
Engr. Umar disclosed this in Maiduguri while handing over the relief items to the representative of Director General, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Waziri Adamu-Waziri at the Central Warehouse of the NEDC.
The NEDC state coordinator added that, the relief items include cash support for the affected persons in different parts of the state, stating that , the items include: Rice (25kg) – 2,000 bags spaghetti/pasta – 2,000 cartons
Others include vegetable oil – 400 gallons, sugar (50kg) – 100 bags, Mats – 1,000 pieces, women’s wrappers – 500 pieces, men’s wears (brocade) – 500 pieces
Children’s wears – 500 pieces, blankets – 2,000 pieces.
The rest are, assorted building materials such as Zinc – 1,000 bundles ceiling – 5,000 pieces, Timber – 10,000 pieces Rods – 2,000 pieces and Nails – 1,000 cartons as well as financial support of N50,000 to each household of deceased victims, and N30,000 to each hospitalized victim.
