
Industrialist and philanthropist Aliko Dangote has been named among the TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2026, joining global leaders and innovators shaping the future.
Dangote appears alongside major political figures including U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Catholic leader Pope Leo XIV.
Business and technology leaders such as Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan were also included in the prestigious global ranking.
The annual TIME100 list, released on April 15, 2026, highlights individuals whose leadership and influence are shaping developments in politics, business, culture, and society worldwide.
Dangote’s recognition marks his second appearance on the list after his first inclusion in 2014 for his contributions to business growth and philanthropy.
He is the only Nigerian featured in this year’s ranking and was placed in the Titans and Innovators category for his industrial expansion across Africa.
Other notable figures in the Titan category include Reid Wiseman, technology philanthropists Michael Dell and Susan Dell, as well as fashion entrepreneur Ralph Lauren.
Entertainment personalities such as Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson were also recognised for their cultural influence.
As founder of the Dangote Group, Africa’s largest indigenous industrial conglomerate, Dangote has driven investments in cement, agriculture, food processing, and energy sectors across the continent.
TIME Magazine highlighted his commitment to building African industries using local resources, while also acknowledging his philanthropic impact through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which supports healthcare, education, and poverty reduction initiatives across Africa.
