
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has carried out a major cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of several commissioners and his Chief of Staff, many of whom are preparing to contest elective positions.
In a move aimed at ensuring continuity in governance, the governor approved the immediate redeployment of members of the State Executive Council to oversee critical ministries and government offices.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued late Monday by the Special Adviser on Media Affairs, Mukhtar Gidado. According to him, the reshuffle became necessary after the exit of top officials, including the Chief of Staff and six commissioners.
As part of the new arrangement, the Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Hashimu Yakubu, has been directed to supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Government House.
Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimim-Zayam has been reassigned to oversee the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, while the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), will now supervise the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, has been given additional responsibility for the Ministry of Water Resources. Former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly and Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will now oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties.
Also affected is Jakoya Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Planning and Multilateral Coordination, who has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
In the same vein, Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, will now oversee the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
Meanwhile, the Chief Security Adviser to the governor and a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sani Mohammed, has been given additional oversight of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Governor Mohammed, who recently defected to the Allied Peoples Movement, wished the outgoing officials success in their political pursuits.
He also charged the newly assigned officials to take charge of their respective offices and apply their experience to improve governance. The governor further urged them to work closely with permanent secretaries to ensure efficient service delivery in the interest of the state and its people.
