
Borno Senators: Monguno, Lawan and Ndume
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has officially declared Senate Chief Whip, Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Mohammed Ali Ndume and Kaka Shehu Lawan as the party’s unopposed candidates for the 2027 senatorial elections.
The declaration was made on Monday during the APC National Assembly primary elections held in Monguno, Maiduguri and Biu, respectively.
Chairman of the APC Borno State National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Prophet Jones Erue, alongside other party officials, announced the trio as winners following voice affirmations by delegates and party stakeholders.
Monguno, who currently represents Borno North Senatorial District, Lawan representing Borno Central, and Ndume representing Borno South, secured the party’s tickets without opposition, reflecting what party members described as growing confidence in their leadership and representation.
Speaking after the exercise, the lawmakers pledged to sustain efforts aimed at promoting the interests of their constituents through effective legislation and developmental interventions.
They assured supporters that they would continue to raise issues affecting their districts on the floor of the National Assembly while pursuing projects capable of improving the living conditions of the people.
Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan expressed appreciation to Vice President Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, for their encouragement and support.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and called on party members and supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lawan urged party faithful to mobilise support for all APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the presidential, National Assembly and state assembly elections.
Governor Zulum, in his remarks, thanked party leaders, stakeholders and supporters across the state for their commitment to the APC.
He also commended President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their continued support to Borno State, assuring that the people of the state remained firmly behind the APC administration.
According to him, the endorsement of the senators was a reflection of their achievements and contributions to the development of their respective districts over the past three years.
The primary election events featured celebrations by party supporters, including cultural displays, music and solidarity marches by youth and women groups.
