Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of aviation fuel, popularly known as Jet A1, from ₦1,750 to ₦1,650 per litre in a move aimed at easing financial pressure on airline operators across Nigeria.
The company disclosed this in a statement issued by its media team on Tuesday, noting that the price adjustment forms part of broader efforts to ensure steady fuel supply and support the aviation sector amid rising operational costs.
In addition to the price cut, the refinery introduced a 30-day interest-free credit facility for marketers and airline operators. The arrangement, which is backed by bank guarantees, is expected to improve access to aviation fuel and reduce the financial burden on operators.
The refinery also announced a transition from dollar-denominated transactions to a naira-based pricing system, a development industry observers believe could help shield local operators from foreign exchange volatility.
Aviation stakeholders have consistently raised concerns over the rising cost of Jet A1, warning that increasing fuel prices were putting severe strain on airline operations and contributing to higher airfares for passengers.
According to the company, the latest intervention is expected to lower fuel procurement costs for airlines, improve operational stability, and support efforts to moderate ticket prices in the domestic aviation market.
Industry analysts say the move could provide temporary relief for domestic carriers struggling with high operating expenses and help sustain flight operations across the country.
