Jose Mourinho
José Mourinho is set for a return to Real Madrid after agreeing all terms to become the club’s manager next season, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported a few hours ago that the Portuguese coach has reached a full agreement with Real Madrid, with only final formalities remaining before the move is completed.
The development brings Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabéu more than a decade after his first spell in charge of the club.
Mourinho managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga in the 2011/12 season and the Copa del Rey in 2011. He also led the team to three consecutive UEFA Champions League semi-finals before leaving in 2013.
He is returning from a strong spell with Benfica, where he went unbeaten with 23 wins and 11 draws.
The former Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Roma manager is expected to take charge ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
The move also gives Mourinho another chance to finally win the UEFA Champions League with Madrid, a trophy that eluded him during his first spell at the club.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement with his usual line: “The Special One is back.”
