The city of Uyo came alive in colour, creativity and cultural expression as the 5th edition of Uyo Fashion Week delivered a remarkable showcase of fashion, innovation and enterprise under the theme “The Fusion.”
Held at the prestigious Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre, the multi-day event brought together designers, models, fashion entrepreneurs, creatives, celebrities, industry leaders and style enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond for an unforgettable celebration of African fashion and storytelling.
Convener Mae Edmunds described this year’s edition as a “powerful convergence of culture, creativity and commercialization, reaffirming Uyo Fashion Week’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s most important emerging fashion platforms.”
From breathtaking runway moments to insightful masterclasses, exhibitions and networking sessions, the event highlighted the economic and cultural potential of the creative industry while positioning Akwa Ibom as a rising hub for fashion tourism and innovation.
Designers thrilled audiences with collections that blended African heritage with contemporary elegance, showcasing bold silhouettes, intricate craftsmanship, vibrant textiles and futuristic interpretations of indigenous fashion. Emerging and established brands alike transformed the runway into a moving canvas of artistry and identity.
Among the standout showcases were collections from Gims Exclusive, Stylemhan Fashion and several rising creatives representing different local government areas of Akwa Ibom State. Their presentations reflected the richness of African storytelling through fashion while demonstrating the commercial possibilities within the industry.
A major highlight of the event was the highly anticipated Arise 31 Runway Show, which brought electrifying energy to the fashion week experience. The showcase celebrated emerging talents and bold creative expression, featuring avant-garde pieces, contemporary African couture and daring runway concepts that earned resounding applause from guests and fashion stakeholders.
Another defining aspect of this year’s event was its impactful series of masterclasses and panel conversations led by respected voices across fashion, branding, media and business.
The sessions provided young designers and aspiring entrepreneurs with practical insights into fashion business management, branding, digital storytelling, sustainability, content creation and navigating the global fashion industry.
Participants described the masterclasses as both inspiring and transformative, noting that the sessions created valuable opportunities for mentorship, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
The conversations reinforced the importance of equipping creatives with not just artistic talent, but also the business and communication skills required to build sustainable brands.
Beyond the glamour of the runway, Uyo Fashion Week continued to demonstrate its commitment to youth empowerment, enterprise development and the growth of Africa’s creative economy.
The event also attracted notable personalities from entertainment, media and fashion, adding glamour and influence to an already impactful gathering. Guests praised the organization, production quality and the intentional focus on empowering young creatives.
As the curtains closed on another successful edition, Uyo Fashion Week once again proved that it is more than a fashion event, it is a movement dedicated to elevating African creativity, driving youth empowerment and shaping the future of fashion on the continent.
With each edition, the platform continues to expand its influence, offering emerging talents the visibility, mentorship and opportunities needed to compete on the global stage.
