Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has concluded the screening exercise for presidential aspirants of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The screening exercise was held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja as the party intensifies preparations for the next presidential election cycle.
Atiku disclosed this in a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, where he reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as the mission to rescue the country.
“I have concluded the screening exercise for ADC presidential aspirants at the Transcorp Hotel, Abuja, ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections. Together, the journey to rescue our country continues,” Atiku stated.

The development marks another major step in the build-up to the 2027 elections, with political parties gradually beginning internal processes expected to shape the contest for Nigeria’s highest office.
Although details of the screening were not immediately made public, the exercise is believed to be part of the ADC’s efforts to assess aspirants seeking to fly the party’s flag in the presidential election.
Atiku, who has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape for decades, has consistently advocated for reforms in governance, economic recovery, and national unity.
Political observers say his participation in the ADC screening signals ongoing realignments within the opposition ahead of the 2027 polls.
The ADC is expected to continue consultations and other party processes in the coming months as preparations for the general elections gather momentum across the country.
