TSpeaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dahiru Liman, Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Magaji Henry Danjuma, and Majority Leader, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, have secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) tickets for their respective constituencies through consensus affirmation exercises held across Kaduna State.
Liman emerged as the APC candidate for Makera State Constituency after being unanimously affirmed during the party’s primary election attended by party officials, delegates and supporters.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Engr. Ezekiel Samuel Gode, said Liman was returned unopposed after emerging as the sole consensus candidate for the constituency.
“Having received the affirmation results from the five voting areas and with no other contestant in the race, I hereby declare Rt. Hon. Dahiru Liman as the duly returned and affirmed candidate for the Makera State Constituency seat,” he said.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Barr. Magaji Henry Danjuma, was affirmed as the APC candidate for Kagarko State Constituency following a peaceful affirmation exercise across the wards in the constituency.
The Returning Officer, Abdulrahman Ibrahim Apo Jere, declared Danjuma winner at the local government collation centre after the exercise.
Also, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Munira Suleiman Tanimu, secured the APC ticket for Lere East Constituency after an affirmation exercise conducted across the six wards of the constituency.
The Returning Officer for Lere East, Hon. Aminu Yaro, formally returned her as the party’s candidate during the exercise held in Saminaka.
Meanwhile, several APC aspirants for Kaduna State House of Assembly seats have stepped down from the race in support of the party’s consensus candidates, a move party leaders said was aimed at strengthening unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the aspirants in Kaduna, Dr. Abdulrazaq Shuibu Labbo, an aspirant for Kaka/Gogi constituency in Birnin Gwari, said the decision followed consultations and interventions by Governor Uba Sani to sustain cohesion within the party.
“We stand in full solidarity with the progressive leadership of Governor Uba Sani and reaffirm our commitment to his successful re-election and the overall victory of the APC in Kaduna State and across the nation,” he said.
Those who withdrew from the contest include Dr. Abdulrazaq Shuibu Labbo (Kaka/Gogi, Birnin Gwari), Mustapha Adam (Giwa West), Deborah Musa (Lere West), Isah Nasidi (Doka/Gabasawa), and Kabiru Bale Ahmed (Kawo).
Political observers say the development reflects efforts by the Kaduna APC leadership to consolidate party unity and avert internal divisions ahead of the 2027 polls.
