Taraba PDP governorship candidate, Emmanuel Bwacha
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday affirmed former senator representing Taraba South, Emmanuel Bwacha, as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Taraba State.
The affirmation exercise took place at Shield Hotel in Jalingo under the supervision of the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking during the exercise, the PDP Legal Adviser, Barrister Muhamad Danlami, said the affirmation followed the provisions of Section 87(3) of the Electoral Act 2026.
“In accordance with Section 87(3) of the Electoral Act 2026, where a political party presents a sole aspirant for any office, the party may adopt a consensus or affirmation procedure, subject to the guidelines of the party,” Danlami stated.
Addressing party members after his affirmation, Bwacha alleged that Taraba State was facing serious challenges arising from mismanagement of public resources and lack of transparency in governance.
According to him, residents of the state are yearning for a change in leadership due to what he described as deep-rooted corruption in the system.
“There is deep corruption, the resources of the state is squandered, I offered myself to rise to the challenge having come from the political cardal in the state years ago, there is nothing to show for the over N800 Billion that has been borrowed since assumption of this present administration,” Bwacha said.
He further alleged that despite huge federal allocations received by the state in the last three years, there were no visible projects to justify the funds.
“The federal allocation that has been given to the state over the three years, there is no tangible project to show, the wealth of Taraba can not be allowed to be pocketed by few individuals, we will take the state to a new level if am voted into the office,” he added.
