Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has partnered with Nile Business School, Nile University of Nigeria to train executive MBA students on practical public sector management through a 4-day Executive Industry Immersion Challenge held at the NDIC head office in Abuja.
NDIC Managing Director and Chief Executive Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday said the programme was designed to close the widening gap between academic training and the realities of the corporate world.
“The rapidly evolving global work environment requires professionals who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical insight into the realities of the corporate world,” Sunday said at the opening ceremony on Thursday, May 21.
He noted that the challenge exposes participants to policy formulation, institutional governance, and public sector management.
Sunday reiterated the NDIC’s mandate as a financial safety-net institution focused on financial system stability and depositor confidence.
He urged students to adopt honesty, ethical conduct, good governance, and transparency as guiding principles for leadership and national development.
Director of Research, Policy and International Relations and Project Coordinator for the NDIC, Mr. Ibrahim Aliyu said the EIIC was structured as an experiential learning initiative to connect classroom theory with industry practice.
Representing Nile Business School Dean Prof. Hauwa Lamido, senior faculty member Dr. Festus Ekechi said the school chose the NDIC for its reputation in sound corporate governance, professionalism and integrity. He said the school would integrate key lessons from the programme into its curriculum to ensure students apply the knowledge in their workplaces.
The NDIC said the collaboration forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen public trust in Nigeria’s financial system through capacity building and transparency.
