Taraba APGA Governorship candidate, Danjuma Shiddi
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed Hon. Danjuma Umaru Shiddi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Taraba State.
The endorsement took place during the party’s primary election and candidates’ affirmation exercise held in Jalingo, where aspirants for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly seats were presented and ratified by party members.
Speaking at the event, APGA National Vice Chairman for the North-East, Aminu Hamanjoda Furo, described the exercise as orderly and successful, praising party supporters and security personnel for their roles in ensuring a smooth process.
“Everything went peacefully and successfully. I want to specially appreciate the security operatives, women, youths and all party faithful who contributed to the success of this exercise,” he said.
Furo explained that the exercise was organised to formally affirm the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among those endorsed were Salihu Ibrahim for Jalingo I State Constituency, Cyprian David Kamai for Jalingo II State Constituency, Hon. Patrick Umar for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency seat, and Alhaji Ali Sani Kona for Taraba North Senatorial District.
In his acceptance remarks, Shiddi expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a clear indication of their trust in his leadership.
The APGA governorship candidate pledged to address key challenges confronting the state, including unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, declining educational standards and economic difficulties.
“Our educational system is in a bad condition and many of our youths are unemployed. We are determined to provide responsible leadership and deliver good governance to the people,” he said.
Shiddi also urged eligible residents of Taraba State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that voting remains the most effective means of influencing democratic change.
He expressed optimism that APGA would secure victory in the 2027 governorship election and deliver a new direction for the state.
