A powerful Presidential security delegation has arrived in Ogbomoso, Ogbomoso, in response to the abduction of pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery and Primary Schools in Esiele and Yawota communities of Orire Local Government Area.
The delegation is proceeding to the affected rural communities following the coordinated attack in which armed men reportedly stormed the schools and abducted about 46 pupils and teachers.
The high-level team is led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Other members of the delegation include the Inspector-General of Police, Tunde Disu, the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, and the Special Adviser on Public Communications, Sunday Dare.
According to the Presidency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already ordered a series of coordinated security operations aimed at securing the release of the abducted victims and ensuring the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
The visit comes days after an earlier on-the-spot assessment by senior police authorities who had been deployed to the area shortly after the incident to evaluate the situation and reinforce security presence.
Security sources say Esiele and Yawota communities lie within a vast and thick forest reserve that stretches across about eight local government areas in Oyo State, with proximity to Kwara State, a terrain which has continued to pose challenges to ongoing search-and-rescue operations.
Authorities say joint security teams remain on the ground, with intensified operations underway to track the abductors and secure the safe release of all victims.
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to restoring calm in the affected communities and preventing further attacks on schools and rural settlements.
