National Rescue Movement (NRM) has made history by electing Mrs. Esther Nkem Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, making her the first woman to secure the party’s presidential ticket.
Okereke emerged as the party’s flag bearer through a consensus arrangement during the NRM Presidential Primary held in Abuja. Her nomination was ratified by delegates through a unanimous voice vote.
Following her emergence, party leaders presented her with the Certificate of Return and the party’s flag, formally confirming her candidacy for the 2027 presidential race.
Addressing party members and supporters, Okereke pledged to leverage Nigeria’s abundant human and natural resources to drive sustainable growth and transform the country into a hub of economic and social development.
She emphasized the need for national unity, patriotism, and a renewed sense of purpose among citizens, describing them as critical pillars for building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
The NRM presidential candidate also expressed confidence in the nation’s future, promising to champion policies aimed at fostering inclusive development and improving the welfare of Nigerians if elected.
