Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged members of the public to disregard results currently circulating on social media, purportedly reflecting the outcome of its nationwide primaries held on May 28 and 29, 2026.
In a press statement issued by the Office of the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party clarified that the authentic results of the primaries are still under review by its National Executive Council (NEC), which remains the only constitutionally empowered body to announce official outcomes.
“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nation wide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026,” the statement read.
According to the party, all submitted results have been forwarded to the NEC for proper consideration and validation in line with internal party procedures.
“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council, NEC of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results,” it added.
The statement further disclosed that, on the directive of the party’s National Leader, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, the NEC has been summoned to an important meeting in Abuja.
It noted that a pre-NEC gathering is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, while the formal NEC meeting will hold on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, where key decisions regarding the primaries are expected to be concluded.
“The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to the INEC,” the statement further assured.
The party emphasized that only outcomes ratified through its NEC process will be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the official list of candidates for upcoming elections.
