Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda
Katsina State Government has introduced fresh security measures aimed at curbing criminal activities, including a statewide ban on the sale, purchase, transportation and storage of petroleum products in Jerry cans.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda signed the Executive Order, which takes immediate effect, as part of efforts to prevent fuel from being diverted to criminal groups operating in remote parts of the state.
In a related move, the governor ordered the immediate closure of all Point of Sale (POS) outlets and commercial phone-charging centres in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas. Authorities said intelligence and security reports indicated that some of the facilities were being exploited by criminal networks to facilitate their operations.
The state government also imposed a ban on the use of motorcycles across Matazu and Musawa LGAs, citing concerns that bandits and kidnappers frequently rely on the means of transportation to carry out attacks and evade security operatives.
Speaking on the latest measures, Governor Radda reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“The protection of lives and property remains the top priority of this administration,” he said, while assuring residents of continued collaboration with security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability.
The governor urged members of the public to comply with the new directives and support ongoing security efforts by providing useful and timely information to relevant authorities.
The government further warned that anyone found violating the directives would face legal consequences.
Reaffirming its resolve to tackle insecurity, the Katsina State Government said it would continue to deploy all lawful measures necessary to protect communities and create a safer environment for economic and social activities to thrive.
