Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a pregnant woman in Borno State over allegations that she was transporting supplies believed to be intended for Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Falmata Adamu, was apprehended during a routine security operation along the Mandaragirau–Biu Road.
Security sources according to a report by ZagaZola Makama, said the arrest occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on July 13 when personnel of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, who were manning a military checkpoint, stopped and searched the woman.
During the search, troops reportedly discovered several items concealed beneath her clothing.
The recovered materials included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which security operatives suspect were being transported to a terrorist hideout.
Following the discovery, the suspect was taken into military custody for further interrogation.
Sources familiar with the operation said investigators are working to determine the intended destination of the recovered items and whether the suspect has any links to the logistics network supporting Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Military officials noted that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to disrupt the movement of supplies and dismantle logistics channels used by insurgent groups operating across the North-East.
They added that although the security situation within the theatre of operations remains relatively calm, troops have continued to maintain heightened vigilance in anticipation of any emerging threats.
