Nigeria records 45 new Covid-19 cases, 166,191 total cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday announced that it has registered 45 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total numbers of infections in the country to 166,191 confirmed cases.

As at Thursday, 27 May, 2021, the public health agency no COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the total fatalities in Nigeria to 2,071 deaths.

The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov, noting that the 45 new cases were reported from 5 states, including: – Lagos (27), Rivers (14), Kaduna (2), Jigawa (1), Ekiti (1),

It added that with the new cases, the total numbers of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 166,191 confirmed cases, out of which 156,535 Covid-19 patients have been discharged.

The NCDC further noted that there were now 7,449 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 2,093,243 persons since the outbreak of the pandemic, last year.

It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
