Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Debo Ogundoyin has urged Nigerian youths to be active participants in politics and not just be onlookers
Hon. Ogundoyin made this submission in Ilorin the Kwara state capital at the first annual Voice of Tomorrow Summit organised by the Technical Adviser on Investment to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Kabir Shagaya.
According to him, Nigeria would be better off among other nations. He also advocated for the unity of both the public and private sector elites in order for the country to move forward.
On the security situation in the country, Ogundoyin said the youths of the nation has a huge role to play being the leaders of tomorrow. ” the youths should cooperate with the security agencies in the country and report any suspicious activity or people to the appropriate agency ” he said.
Speaking at the summit, the convener and Technical Adviser on Investment to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, Kabir Shagaya, said the main aim of the summit which has the theme “Responsibilities and Expectations That Comes With Influence” is to sensitise the youths of the country particularly Kwarans about the responsibilities that comes with influence and to prepare the youths of the state leadership roles in the future.
He commended residents and indigenes of the state for the unity and harmony that exists among them despite the diversity in religion and tribe and urged them to continue to exhibit that in order to usher in more development economically and infrastructure wise.
Speaking on behalf of the Salman Shagaya Foundation, brother of the convener, Akeem Shagaya on behalf of the foundation thanked participants which includes the Cross Rivers State Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Asoquo Ekpeyong, Prince Aderemi Sijuade a Businessman from Osun State, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara state Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Jetawo Wynther, the state Commissioner of Tertiary Education, Barrister Senior Salman amongst others for their contributions and participation while calling for unity among Nigerians in order to surmount the numerous challenges facing the country.
