
Speaker of House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has concluded its House of Representatives primary elections, with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajuddeen, and several other aspirants emerging as winners across the state’s federal constituencies.
Announcing the results at the APC State Secretariat in Kaduna on Saturday, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Senator Yakubu Hosseini, said the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
In Zaria Federal Constituency, Speaker Abbas emerged unopposed after polling 930 votes.
Declaring him winner, Hosseini said the Speaker had fulfilled all constitutional requirements of the party and secured the highest number of votes cast in the exercise.
In Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Amos Gwamna Magaji emerged through consensus after securing 1,930 votes.
For Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Samaila Abdul Suleiman clinched victory with 3,049 votes, defeating Abdulaziz Abubakar Kaka, who polled 65 votes, and Abubakar Mahmoud, who scored 96 votes.
Hosseini subsequently declared Suleiman winner of the primary, saying he satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines.
In Kaura Federal Constituency, Benjamin Gugong defeated Donatus Mathieu by polling 1,085 votes against 255 votes.
The party also announced Mukhtar Zakari Chawai as consensus candidate for Kauru Federal Constituency after polling 1,750 votes.
Similarly, Felix Joseph Bagudu emerged winner of the Kachia Federal Constituency primary with 1,580 votes, while Daniel Amos was declared winner for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency.
For Kagarko/Kachia Federal Constituency, Gabriel Salle also emerged victorious after satisfying the party’s requirements.
Also among the successful contestants was Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, son of elder statesman Ango Abdullahi, who polled 920 votes in his constituency’s contest.
Other winners announced included Muhammad Jallo, who scored 1,171 votes, and Bashir Suleiman Juntu, who secured 1,787 votes in their respective constituencies.
Kaduna State APC Chairman, Air Commodore Atiku Sanke (rtd), formally accepted the results and declared the primary exercise concluded.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise and received collated results from the various constituencies.
