
Senior sources within the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have confirmed the disqualification of four aspirants seeking the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State ahead of the forthcoming primary election.
The affected aspirants are said to include Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba, Hon. Aisha Baba Jalloh, Hon. Ahmad Saidu Baba, and Aliyu Abubakar Ibrahim.
According to highly placed party officials familiar with the screening process, the disqualifications followed findings arising from the verification of nomination documents and other materials submitted by the aspirants during the screening exercise at the APC headquarters.
The sources also disclosed that the issues identified reportedly included inconsistencies in records and documentation, irregularities connected to some endorsement signatures and party dues status of certain endorsers, as well as contradictory information allegedly contained in forms and sworn submissions presented by the aspirants.
One senior party source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, stated that the APC was determined to uphold its internal guidelines and ensure that all aspirants strictly complied with nomination requirements.
“The screening committee examined all submitted documents thoroughly, and where there were major discrepancies or issues affecting compliance, appropriate decisions were taken in line with party regulations,” the source intimated a Correspondent said.
He added that the issues identified also include alleged forged signatures of party members who nominated the candidates.
While the APC has yet to publicly release a formal statement on the outcome of the screening exercise, multiple party insiders insist that the affected aspirants have already been informed of the decisions reached by the relevant committees.
The reported disqualifications are expected to significantly alter the political calculations ahead of the APC primary for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments within the party.
Supporters and party members across the constituency are now awaiting the official publication of the final list of cleared aspirants by the APC leadership.
