AFCON 2021: Izilein urges Eagles to be clinical in finishing against Tunisia

Super Eagles squard

Godwin Izilein, a former coach of the Super Falcons, on Saturday in Benin urged the Super Eagles forwards to be clinical in their finishing against Tunisia on Sunday.

Izilien told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Super Eagles needed clinical finishing to suceed in the round of 16 match at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

NAN reports that the match holding in Garoua, Cameroon is scheduled to hold from 8 p.m.

“We should have Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Samuel Chukwueze leading our attacking line against the Tunisians.

“This is because we need players who can fight for the ball, who can hold the ball and strikers who can finish clinically. With this, I am sure we can demolish the North Africans,” Izilein said.

He however said he was optimistic that the Super Eagles can secure victory against their Tunisian foes.

The coach said his optimism was drawn from the “hunger for success” burning in the players and their technical crew.

Izilein, who also once handled the national under-17 team, added that the Eagles have played with more determination.

“They have also been better organised since the commencement of the competition. From the little we have seen so far of them, they have my backing and I have confidence in them.

“They are organised and know what to do. I see the determination to succeed in them,” he said.

NAN reports that the senior men’s national football team are drawn against Tunisia in the round 16 after winning their first round group with the maximum nine points from three matches.

Tunisia on the other hand qualified for the knockout stage as one of the best losers.(NAN)
