
The 4th Akwa Ibom agribusiness roundtable international conference “Uyo 2025,” will feature the groundbreaking of the centre for innovation and sustainable agriculture, the organisers have said.
A fully established Centre for Innovative and Sustainable Agriculture (CISA) will be the leading platform for innovative solutions in value addition to locally produced goods and indeed serve as a major export hub in the South East, South South and other contiguous regions, they stated .
With the theme, ” _Resilient Agribusiness: A Sustainable Solution for a Changing World.”_
The event will also the launch of Climate Smart Village Programme (CSV-P), workshops, agro-tourism, exhibitions and awards
Addressing a press conference in Uyo, the state capital, Howard Usen, the zonal coordinator of Nigeria Agro-business and Agro-Industry Development Initiative (NAADI) said the conference would “bring together leading experts, policymakers, investors, and agribusiness stakeholders across Nigeria and internationally to address critical issues and opportunities in the agribusiness sector.”
According to him, “in a rapidly changing world, the need for robust agribusiness practices is more critical than ever to ensure food security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.”
Maintaining that the conference will provide a platform to promote innovative strategies for building resilient and sustainable agricultural systems, he said it will facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice exchange among agribusiness stakeholders,.
“It will attract investment to the agribusiness sector in Nigeria, and contribute to the development of effective policies and regulations to support agribusiness growth.
“This strategic conference is expected to attract over 500 participants across the country and a significant event for Akwa Ibom State and for the entire Nigerian agricultural sector, ” he said.
Usen , who is the chairman of the organizing committee said the Agribusiness Development and Enterprise Award (ADEA) will be dedicated to the building of sustainable systems in agriculture, rural development and industry through the recognition of vanguards in the Agro Sub-sector who have pioneered and contributed to the advancement of innovative solutions.
“ADEA identifies and properly recognizes individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves as brilliant exemplars in this generation.
Expected to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Host Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, six Governors of the South South States of Nigeria and other selected Governors.
Other expected participants will include: Ministers, members of the Diplomatic Corps, National/State Assembly Members, State Commissioners, Heads of Ministries, Departments and agencies of Governments, farmers, Local and International Agencies, Banks, Small and Medium Enterprises as well as Captains of Industries.
The conference is scheduled to be held from Sunday 26th – Wednesday 29th October, 2025 at Watbridge Hotels & Suites, Uyo, Nigeria.
