
Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has tasked security agencies to urgently intensify efforts and ensure the immediate and safe release of medical student abducted in the state.
Governor Alia in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula condemned in strong terms, the abduction of the medical students who were from Universities of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and University of Jos (UNIJOS).
No fewer than 20 medical students were ambushed and taken away by gunmen along Otukpo-Enugu highway, while on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) Annual Convention in Enugu State last Thursday.
Governor Alia warned criminal elements operating within the state to find another base as he assured that his administration would not rest on its oars to stamp out all forms of criminality in the state.
Recall also that the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Command, Sewuese Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, informed that efforts were on by men of the Command to rescue the victims even as she solicited for useful information that would lead to the rescue of the victims.
