
Former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed

Trial is currently ongoing in a case of alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of N5.78 billion, involving former Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, and his finance Commissioner, Alhaji Ademola Banu.
The trial is before Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.
Ahmed and his co-defendant were accused by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of conspiring to divert funds to the tune of N5.78billion meant for the payment of teachers’ salaries under the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the provision of basic infrastructure for primary and junior secondary schools, and security initiatives in the state.
At today’s sitting, proceedings were expected to continue with the testimony of the former Accountant General of Kwara State, Alhaji Suleiman Oluwadare Ishola, who is one of the prosecution’s key witnesses in the case.
