Alleged N80.2bn fraud: Immigration places Yahaya Bello under watch list

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has placed the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello under its watch list.

It would be recalled that Bello was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged financial crime to the tune of N80.2 billion.

“I am directed to inform you that the above name person have been placed on watch list”, the Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, ACI DS Umar, said in a statement on Thursday on behalf of the Comptroller of NIS, Kemi Nandap.

“Suffice to mention that the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for alleged conspiracy, breach of trust and money laundering vide letter Ref: CR: 3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/TE/V/1/279 dated 18th April, 2024.

“If seem at any entry or exist point, he should be arrested and referred to The Director of Investigation or contact: 08036226329, 07039617304 for further action.

“Please accept as always the Comptroller General warmest regards and esteem”, the statement added.
