Anambra State Police Command has foiled a cult initiation ceremony in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, and arrested six suspects.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Ikenga, police operatives carried out the operation on June 15 at about 9:30 am, recovering several items, including a Jojef pump action gun, two cartridges, and a golden-colored Lexus SUV.
Other items recovered include two cutlasses, scissors, a cap with the inscription of the Supreme Vikings confraternity, charms, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.
“The suspects are currently undergoing police interrogation to get more insight into their modus operandi, after which the case will be charged to Court on the conclusion of the investigations,” Ikenga said.
The police spokesman reassured residents that the command remains committed to combating cultism and other related crimes in the state.
