Miss Universe Nigeria, Onyinyechi Basil
Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra, was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 at a dazzling grand finale held in Lagos on Saturday night.
Outshining Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, in the final showdown, Basil secured the prestigious title, marking a triumphant moment in the highly competitive pageant.
The event, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, saw Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, take second runner-up, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, claimed third runner-up.
Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, rounded out the top five and was honored with the title of Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
“It was an intense competition, with only 10 of the 22 contestants reaching the final stage,” noted host Anthony Abraham, highlighting the fierce talent on display, which included representatives from Delta, Ekiti, Oyo, Imo, and Ebonyi.
The finale captivated audiences both in-person and online, sparking widespread excitement across social media.
Basil now succeeds Chidinma Adetshina, the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria and reigning Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.
“I’m deeply honored to represent Nigeria on the global stage,” Basil said, as she prepares to compete at the international Miss Universe pageant later this year, facing contenders from across the globe.
