Thousand of supporters storm APC mega rally
All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has expressed satisfaction with the significant voter participation during the state assembly by-election in Kaura Namoda South Constituency.
Speaking to journalists at Kasuwar-Daji Primary School Polling Unit, Yusuf Idris, the APC Publicity Secretary, praised the turnout, stating, “The voter turnout at the election is large and commendable.”
Idris described the electoral process as smooth and peaceful, noting, “We have been here since morning, monitoring the election.
The process is peaceful.”
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials for their early arrival and professional conduct at polling units.
He also acknowledged the prompt deployment of security personnel, which ensured orderliness throughout the process.
The APC spokesperson emphasized the party’s commitment to a peaceful election, saying, “As a party, we cautioned our members to remain peaceful and orderly during the exercise. We are hoping that the process will remain peaceful till the end.”
However, Idris raised concerns about alleged interference by personnel from the Community Protection Guard (CPG), a Zamfara State government security outfit.
He argued that their presence violated a police directive banning local security groups from election activities, stating, “I see no reason why CPG personnel should be allowed around the election venue. We urge security agencies to take note of this to avoid any disruption.”
In contrast, Malam Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Dauda Lawal, refuted these claims at Magaji Polling Unit in Maguru Town.
He described the election as orderly and violence-free, asserting, “We have been here since morning, we have no record of any violence, the election is moving on smoothly.”
Jafaru-Kaura dismissed the allegations regarding CPG involvement, saying, “Since we came here, I have not seen any CPG personnel. The state government did not deploy any CPG personnel to the polling units, that allegation is baseless.”
