All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its House of Representatives primary election for the 2027 general elections by one day, shifting the exercise to Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The party, however, confirmed that the dates earlier announced for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries remain unchanged.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the statement, the House of Representatives primary, initially scheduled to hold earlier, will now take place on Saturday.
“Previously announced Primary Election dates for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, Governorship and Presidential primaries remain unchanged,” the party stated.
With the adjustment, the APC primary election timetable is now as follows:
House of Representatives — Saturday, May 16, 2026
Senate — Monday, May 18, 2026
State House of Assembly — Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Governorship — Thursday, May 21, 2026
Presidential — Saturday, May 23, 2026
The ruling party did not state reasons for the postponement of the House of Representatives primaries.
The revised timetable comes as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across various elective positions intensifying consultations and mobilization within the party.
