President Muhammadu Buhari
A Kogi chieftain of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Mr Ahmed Aruwa, has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the new electoral bill to checkmate money politics.
Mr. Aruwa made the call in an interview with Newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday.
“It’s our belief as a socialists party that the new electoral bill recently passed by the national assembly will correct many wrongs in our democratic system and raised the masses hope.
“I am one of those who believe that the new electoral bill will go along way at curbing money politics considering the political awareness Nigerians have presently” he stated.
Aruwa, who was party’s governorship candidate in Kogi in the 2019 general elections, expressed hope in Nigeria’s peaceful transition of power in 2023.
He called on all politicians to play the political game according to the democratic rules and regulations in 2023.
He described the successful and peaceful state congress PRP held on Saturday, Feb. 12 as clear message that the party was very much prepared to prove a point in Kogi and Nigeria in 2023.
“I will still contest the Kogi governorship in 2023,” he said. (NAN)
