The remains of late Nigerian leader, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, were laid to rest in his northern hometown Daura, on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, with full military honours, and his successor, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, as the chief mourner. The casket bearing the body, draped in the Nigerian green-white-green national colours, was flown in from London to Katsina, capital of Katsina State. President Tinubu received the body, followed by the farewell military honours, before it was moved in an ambulance on the one-hour journey to Daura for interment according to Islamic rites.
