Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has announced a strategic partnership with journalists to promote the state’s vibrant tourism potential to a global audience.
The collaboration aims to highlight Bauchi’s cultural heritage, traditional cuisine, and unique attractions, positioning the state as a premier tourism destination.
During a courtesy visit to the BSTDC head office in Bauchi on Tuesday, Managing Director Dr. Nasiru Shehu revealed plans to synergize with the Bauchi chapter of Journalists for Tourism.
“Besides the famous Yankari Game and Resort, a world-renowned tourist destination, Bauchi offers numerous memorable tourism experiences,” Dr. Nasiru stated.
“We will engage journalists in all our activities within and outside the state to amplify publicity for Bauchi’s tourism offerings.”
Emphasizing the media’s critical role, Dr. Nasiru described it as an “indispensable worldwide tool for selling tourism products.”
He confidently asserted, “No state in Nigeria or elsewhere in West Africa has our brand of tourism products.”
To formalize the partnership, he announced, “We will very soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Journalists for Tourism to achieve the state government’s objectives.”
Dr. Nasiru also highlighted Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to tourism, noting, “Governor Bala Mohammed has made tourism one of his top priorities, and we welcome anyone involved in tourism activities.”
To support the journalists’ efforts, the BSTDC will provide office accommodation equipped with modern communication tools to facilitate comprehensive coverage of tourism activities across the state.
Earlier in the meeting, the Chairman of Journalists for Tourism, Mr. Austine Tsenzughul, introduced his team and expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration.
“Our chapter comprises strictly professional journalists from reputable print and electronic media outfits,” he said.
“As you can see from our membership, we are poised to provide extensive coverage of your tourism activities, reaching every corner within and beyond the state and nation.”
Mr. Tsenzughul added, “We are willing and ever ready to work closely with your organization to promote your activities, with a view to attracting more investors and tourists to Bauchi.”
On behalf of Journalists for Tourism, he expressed gratitude for the office accommodation, promising to leverage it effectively to disseminate information about Bauchi’s tourism initiatives.
