ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi –

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has said that some youths who attempted to raid a store to loot COVID-19 palliatives were disappointed as they found it empty.
He disclosed this in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle: @SenBalaMohammed, on Sunday.
“Today, hoodlums attempted a raid on the #COVID-19 palliative warehouse in Bauchi State. My Chief of Staff, Dr. Ladan Salihu, was informed and he ordered the warehouse to be opened.
“They saw it was empty, and they turned back. And that’s because we shared everything to beneficiaries as at when due.”
He said that he had ensured that the palliatives given to the state were shared by a high powered committee comprising of top government officials including himself to the most vulnerable across the 20 local government areas of the state.
The governor said that for accountability, his administration started distribution of the palliatives months ago adding that he set up “a high powered committee that included myself, my deputy, the State @OfficialPDPNig Chairman and Chairmen of all political parties in the state, including traditional rulers, and others.”
He added that: “The core of my mandate remains the crucial drive to give Bauchi State citizens a better prospect and more excellent opportunity for a prosperous life. We are doing this, and we will continue to do more. #GreaterBauchi.”
“I am excited to re-emphasise that between May and August this year, my administration launched multiple rounds of distribution of #COVID19 palliatives to beneficiaries across Bauchi State.
“These exercises were part of my administration’s modest efforts to bring assistance to citizens, especially during the critical period of the lockdown when citizens couldn’t move around freely to carry out their businesses.
“I am excited to re-emphasise that between May and August this year, my administration launched multiple rounds of distribution of #COVID19 palliatives to beneficiaries across Bauchi State.”
Mohammed who commended the palliative committee for a job well done, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed in cash and in-kind to the committee towards these efforts.
“Each beneficiary received a 50kg bag of rice, alongside flour, sugar, salt, a carton of indomie, vegetable oil amongst others. #GreaterBauchi,” he added.
